Background of the Study
The welfare of senior citizens is an important aspect of social justice and human rights in Nigeria. The Nigerian Constitution provides certain guarantees for vulnerable groups, including the elderly, through provisions on social welfare and human dignity. However, the extent to which these constitutional rights are translated into practical benefits for senior citizens remains underexplored, especially in Wase Local Government Area (LGA), Plateau State.
This study will examine how constitutional law influences the welfare of senior citizens in Wase LGA, focusing on the availability of social services, healthcare, and economic support for the elderly. The study will also assess the barriers to the implementation of constitutional provisions and propose solutions to improve the lives of senior citizens in the region.
